Overview:Artist, Kigami Mamoru, is confronted by a land owner who wants to cut down an old Japanese elm tree. Moguro scares them off and he encourages Kigami to live in the tree and the artist promises to defend it to the end. Kigami becomes a local celebrity and he has an exhibition of his woodland paintings which enables him to earn enough money to stay in the tree. The landowner returns and makes Kigami the offer that if he lets the tree be cut down, the developer will provide a comfortable studio and Kigami can paint an everlasting mural of the tree on the side of the building. Kigami agrees, but Moguro cannot accept his change of heart, and makes Kigami part of the tree which is about to be cut down.
