Overview:Residents living near lily fields are concerned. Many pesticides are used in lily cultivation. These can pose health risks. Over the past year, local residents went to court in various places in the Netherlands. They tried to stop new lily cultivation, or to enforce that growers can only use a limited number of pesticides. In some places the judge agreed with local residents, but is the judge not doing what the government should actually do: protect local residents against health risks and provide clarity about what growers are and are not allowed to do?
